Harm reduction and Narcan presentation for the Grammy’s nonprofit, Musicares on 1/17/19 from 11 AM- 1 PM. Hosted by Pacific Solstice, CCAPP, and Musicares.
That’s where Pacific Solstice family and couples therapy programs come in. While individuals undergo treatment for their drug or alcohol addictions or mental health issues, our therapists simultaneously work with family members, partners, and spouses to build stronger, healthier relationships.
Family and couples therapy at our Orange County treatment center is available for family members and spouses who are impacted by a loved one’s struggle with addiction and mental health disorders. Through separate but concurrent counseling, we help family members better understand the disorder, address and heal the damage done, and become an active, positive participant in their loved one’s recovery.Get help: (949) 200-7929
Our family and couples therapy programs address a wide range of areas that impact healthy relationships including:
Often families believe that if they can just “fix” their loved one, then all their problems will be resolved and life can return to normal. In reality, it’s not that simple. Recovery is a journey the whole family must take, not just the person with the addiction or disorder.
To achieve this whole-family recovery, our therapists look for the positive aspects of the family or couple’s relationship, then build on those strengths. We also uncover and address the negative aspects in the family’s dynamic, such as enabling and co-dependency as well as dysfunction that may reach back through multiple generations.
While treating the individual, we work with family members and couples to address their pain, suffering, guilt, fear, shame, and other emotions. Our therapists take the time to assess the needs of each family member, and determine the best pathway to their own recovery. This family support becomes especially important during the early stages of recovery when the loved one is still struggling to understand and confront their own emotional needs.
Along with identifying family issues, we also equip family members with the tools to manage emotions; heal the hurt; improve communication, understanding, trust, and intimacy; and move toward healthier dynamics.
If you have a family member who’s battling addiction or a mental health disorder, know this: You don’t have to wait for them to take the first step toward treatment and recovery. You can lead the way for your loved one by seeking help for yourself. Your treatment and therapy may inspire and motivate your loved one to take this journey as well.
