The Impact of Digital Devices on Children's Attention and Cognitive Development
Many parents are concerned that their children struggle with attention more than previous generations, largely due to the increased use of digital devices like tablets and smartphones. Research suggests that excessive screen time can lead to “digital dementia,” impairing cognitive function and making it difficult for children to engage with less stimulating tasks—a study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) found that children using digital devices for more than two hours a day are at a higher risk for developing ADHD symptoms.
Additionally, electromagnetic radiation (EMF) from these devices may negatively affect cognitive abilities. A study in PLOS One showed that rats exposed to cellphone radiation faced challenges in attention and learning, raising concerns about the impact on developing children's brains, which are more susceptible to EMF.
Solstice Academy addresses these difficulties through a holistic approach that includes individual and group therapy, experiential activities, and nutritional support—our goal is to create a structured environment that fosters healthy cognitive development and equips children with the skills needed to thrive in a technology-driven world.
